Geocache Description:

NOTE: The cache is NOT located at the above coordinates. To obtain the coordinates for this cache, you will need to find the St Joseph River Tour cache. The coordinates for this Bonus cache are located in that cache container.

This cache will take you down the beautiful St Joseph River past undeveloped property and wildlife. We commonly see Deer, Geese, Great Blue Heron, Swans, Ducks, and Otter. After leaving the St Joseph River Cache it will take a couple of hours to reach the Bonus cache. The next landing down river from the Bonus cache is in Buchanan, MI so plan accordingly. You will need a boat of some sort to complete this cache. (canoe, kayak, motor boat). Even if you can find parking closer to the cache, we recommend against attempting to swim to the cache as the river has a strong current. The property on both sides of the river is private property. We also suggest you always use a life vest (PFD) when boating on the river. The rating for this cache is based on the need for a watercraft, distance to the cache and the need to find another challenging cache first. If this was in a park it would be a 2 / 1.5 rating. As you are passing by the Big Orange Travel Bug Convention Center cache (GCK8ZV), be sure to wave as when we are home we often watch boats passing on the river. If you haven’t found it yet you are welcome to come ashore. The cache is a average size Tupperware container (about 14” x 8 “ x 3”) which has been painted to blend into surroundings. Once at proper landing point the cache should not be too difficult to find using normal Geocaching skills. The cache initially includes a virgin set of Travel Bug tags, plus a variety of small trinkets.
