The Smith River was named by Lewis & Clark and the first step is to float down it. Overland is at least an eight mile hike in. Check the Smith River web page for details about floating it. Click on the above "user web page" for details. The Smith is usually only floatable from March-July. It is a wonderful float! The hike to the cache from the river is steep but not bad. Getting to Two Creek Boat Camp is the trick.
The cache is a large ammo can. We didn't put much in it as we decided to place it at the last minute while camped at Camp Baker and we didn't have anything to spare. There is a pencil, log and some emergency poncho's. I also left a FTF prize for the first to find the new cache container. I left a FTF prize in both this cache and "Jason's First" further down the river. Please only take one prize. Don't overlook calling the FW&P's daily to procure a canceled floating permit either!!
Have fun and catch some fish and post some photo's!!
