Cache is hidden in Dan’s Mountain State Park.
Park at:
N 39° 33.245
W 078° 56.868.
This parking area is just a short walk to the
trailhead. Be advised that there is no parking near the
trailhead and both sides of the road have significant ditches.
The gate at the trailhead cannot be blocked. The walk won’t
kill you, and the wildlife in this area is amazing. In just
the time it took to hide the cache I saw many deer, wild
turkeys and even an owl. Trailhead is located at:
N 39° 33.376
W 078° 57.125.
Please be advised that the boundary of the State Park ends
before the trail does, however, the boundaries are clearly marked
with small white signs on the trees. Please keep an eye out for
these signs to avoid trespassing on private property. The cache is
a regular ammo can and was originally placed for the
Dan's Rock CITO. I didn’t know Daniel Cresap, but I bet his big
bad pioneer self would have loved this cache.
