Geocache Description:

This park has some history but sadly doesn't see much activity anymore. It has a playground and lots of room to run.

About the Park -- Samuel Moore was the founder of the Town of Mooresville, and he came here in 1822. The town was incorporated in 1838. In 1870, Samuel Moore donated 5 acres of land for an "Old Settler's Reunion." This 5 acres became known as Old Town Park, and remained the site for the annual Old Settler's Picnic up until just a few years ago. Old Settler's has since outgrown this park and is now held each August in Pioneer Park for 3 days. Old Settler's includes a parade through downtown, crowning of a queen, presenting rocking chairs to oldest male and oldest female attending, great food, a midway, and lots of community involvement.

About the Cache -- NOTE *** CACHE HAS BEEN RELOCATED *** Cache has either been muggled or disappeared with high water. We have replaced it with new container - peanut butter jar wrapped in camo tape.
