Geocache Description:

I no longer live in the lower mainland. If you would like to adopt this cache, please message me.

Another in the Summits and Peaks series.

There are three easily accessible mountains in Cypress Provincial Park -- Black Mountain, Mount Strachan, and Hollyburn Mountain. They form a hiking loop, and all three peaks can be accomplished in a single day of hiking.

The trail to the summit of Black Mountain is accessible from the Baden-Powell Trail, so you have options on where to begin the hike.

Cabin Lake, which you'll pass as you approach the peak.

The cache is hidden in a small grove of trees. No photo available, since all the little groves resembled each other. The satellite signal was good, and the groves are well spaced, so your GPS should point you to the correct grove easily.

The cache is a small 3 inch round lock & lock, painted green. It contains nothing except a logbook, a pencil, and a sharpener. No cache gifts are necessary (pins, pendants, geocoins, and very small travel bugs exempt). It would probably be better to save the plastic McGarbage and business cards for the city caches. If you come up here, the reward is in the hike, the exercise, and the beautiful views.

This cache will not be accessible in the winter, very likely buried under many metres of snow.

Visit the Cypress Provincial Park website for trail maps and other important hiking information.
