Geocache Description:

Update March 2010: We are offering this cache/location and several others for adoption while we pare back a bit on our own maintenance load. Anyone adopting a Sagasu cache is free to demonstrate their own creative style and make any changes desired. Perhaps some new hides will be available in these spots for all.

Update 8/6/09: This is a good cache to do in the winter. Why would I mention this in August? See the rest of the cache listing. Read the whole thing, even if it's not a puzzle cache, some listings are good to read just for the sake of enjoying the whole cache.

This cache is located in one of Appleton's pristine ravines, which have all but disappeared due to filling and urban development. You may want to park at N 44 15.395, W 88 23.138. Terrain is a bit of a challenge, but harrihaven's six year old had no problem when they made the initial placement. PLEASE CONCEAL THE CACHE WELL AFTER MAKING THE FIND AS THE INITIAL CACHE PLACEMENT HERE DID DISAPPEAR AT SOME POINT BEFORE ADOPTION.

Following adoption of this harrihaven cache, a new container was placed on 1-11-08 at the same location. While I was there finding a suitable postition for the replacement cache, the clear water stream running through the ravine had green grass edges in the middle of winter, while a red-tail hawk flew by in the trees along the snow covered wooded slopes enclosing the little valley. It is a beautiful little oasis of wilderness in the middle of the city, much like the considerably larger Peabody Park area.

Initial contents were a log book with pen and pencil, a pack of handwarmers, a micro geocache container, a pair of miniature King Kongs and Matchstick stock car for younger members of the find team, and a Sagasu jeep travel bug and geocoin.

There is an uncirculated golden dollar coin in the log bag for the FTF of this new container for the adopted cache.

After an apparent muggling in early 2008, the hide was moved to a new nearby location and the cache size changed to a camo'd small container. This hide would generally stay winter-friendly, though the snow might cover part of the hide at times.
