Full size cache on the Poet's Walk, which is a beautiful mile
long trail that winds through the meadows and woodlands around Ayr
Mount. To log this cache, find the cache, trade up and log in
verse.
This is a lovely walk through part of the 265 tranquil acres
located within the Eno River Valley near Hillsborough. The walk
passes the Eno River, the remnants of an old tavern and the Old
Indian Trading Path. Please locate and park at Ayr Mount, hours
below.
As you start the walk there are pencils and notepads.. the walk is
meant to inspire you to write poetry. Please log your find in verse
to claim the find :)
The cache is a full sized ammo box-like cache. The original
contents are brand new water squirters, car fresheners, ABC
magnets, cars, light up marbles and other bits and bobs. FTF prize
include an old style sissy and CR Geocaching Stencil and /or a new
Spiderman watch :)
There are a few cache containers, some ready to go with a
logsheet. They are kind of ...erm... hidden in/on the cache
container, try and find them! ;) If you feel generous, please
replace them / add to them!
Please take a photo of your caching self / team with the enclosed
camera. I'll develop when finished, please post in log when all 27
shots are used up.
The walk is open daily :
9 AM until 5 PM*
Jan Feb Nov Dec
9 AM until 6 PM*
March April Sept Oct
9 AM until 8 PM*
May June July August (even though sign says 7pm)
The cache is really close to the main trail, so some stealth
required. It is on a spur trail, very close to water. Please hide
as well as possible afterwards, making sure it is not visible by
whom- / what- ever uses that spur.
There is a bench close by, might be easiest to take the box there
to investigate. Hint is a giveaway.
This area is under threat from a new road.... visit
http://www.savepoetswalk.com/history.html to find out more.
EDIT August 2005: The "spur" is very overgrown underfoot with
stuff, including low briars. Still pretty clear where to go though.
DONT FORGET TO LOG IN VERSE! ;)
**Congratulations to kilted1s for the FTF!!**
