The Smallest Church in America Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

BBadMonkey: It is indeed gone. Perhaps I'll bring it back sometime in the future, but for now it is too far from home to easily keep up with.

Geocache Description:

A tiny little church that is worth a visit. Easy to get to from I-95 when travelling either North or South. There are several places nearby to fuel up your vehicle plus fast-food and BBQ for you. The cache is hidden well away from the Church building. The Church is open to the public 24 hours a day so feel free to go inside and explore. The hide should be fairly obvious to an experienced cacher, but use stealth.

Built with limited funds in 1949 by rural grocer Agnes Harper. Despite the arguments from skeptics who thought she could not afford to build the kind of chapel that would do justice to God, Agnes built the 10 x 15-foot building and deeded it in the name of Jesus Christ. She then opened the door to everyone to come and worship. Agnes believed it was the thought that mattered, not the scope.

Over half a century later the Church is still open to visitors 24-hours a day, though services ceased to be held here sometime in the past decade or two I believe. Come inside and explore the tiny building, but remember the light switch is connected to the door so be sure to close the door firmly when you leave to be sure the lights turn off.
