Geocache Description:

Clackmannanshires very own Mannekin Pis?

This cache was requested by Wee Man (age 5) but I am writing the description on his behalf!

We had noticed this little figure ages ago whilst driving between Dollar and Tillicoultry, but it was only after a short break in Brussels last year that we acquired a name for it - “The Little Boy Having A Pee”! This was due to the fact that wee man thought it looked like the “Mannekin Pis” - that famous statue of a small boy piddling!

However, we had never actually stopped to have a closer look until today (had always just glanced quickly over in its direction whilst zooming past in the car), and in fact this particular boy (if indeed it is a boy!) is not only wearing a robe but the water is also coming out of a urn rather than a body part!

We have no idea of the history behind this structure - it looks like some kind of water feature, but it certainly has the appearance of having been around for a fair while. We would be delighted if anyone could inform us of its background.

The cache is next to the little boys shelter on the north side of the road, but although this is a roadside cache, there is no suitable parking close to it. We suggest that you park, as we did, in one of the side roads at the west end of Dollar. The cache is approximately 0.25miles from here. Please do not try to park on the main road near the cache - it is a busy and bendy carriageway and cars drive along it at fast speeds.

There is a pavement on the south side of the road but we would still advise you to keep hold of any children if they are accompanying you along here. There is no pavement along the north side of the road, but there is a small gravelled area at the front of the little boy. Again, we would warn you to be careful both when crossing over the road to it, and whilst standing there doing the caching business. It is only a few feet from the road and cars will not be expecting to see you there when they come round the corner.

Accuracy was not great when the waypoints were taken - 30ft was the best we could get, but the hint should help. Cache is a 35mm film canister in a plastic bag. There is a small pencil in the cache.

Good Luck!
Allieballie
