Geocache Description:

Year around flat easy access terrain. This is a multi cache.

The Chicago & Alton was important to this community for many years. Today it is mostly a memory which has left it mark on the area.

This is a multi cache. The first stop relates to the above location (N 40-28-222, W 089-00-180). This site represents some of the Chicago & Alton’s history. Chicago & Alton is a name that many people can relate to. If you are not familiar with the Chicago & Alton name then this will be a history lesson as well as a fun cache hunt.

At this site you will see 3 large numbers. You can’t miss them. These numbers are bright and very visible. Write down the 3 numbers. Subtract 504 from the number that you found. The answer is the last 3 digits of the West coordinates needed for the second part of this cache hunt.

N 40-29.137

W 089-00.***

The second part of the cache is another Chicago and Alton location. Would you believe that this Chicago & Alton object was moved by (1) A horse in the 1920’s? I have pictures of the move; it is almost unbelievable that something this large was moved without destroying it.

The location is somewhat public. The owners know that you will be looking for something. They are looking forward to watching you and becoming a part of our adventure.

The cache is about 2 inches around and about 4 inches long. There is a log within the cache and room for 1 travel bug, which I will place inside as a starter.
Bring your own writing instrument.
This should be a year around cache.

Enjoy the hunt. Streetrodder
