Hanna Miners' Memorial
Logo Used With Permission
This cache is located near the memorial to those men who lost their lives in the disasters in the Hanna Number One Mine on June 30, 1903 and March 28, 1908. It is perched atop a small hill with a lovely view of Hanna, Elmo and the Union Pacific Railroad. This area is now and always has been rich in coal and men seeking their fortunes have toiled to support themselves and their families here. It was at one time a much more dangerous job than it is today since the mining was done underground and this memorial pays homage to the men who sacrificed their lives in two mining disasters near the turn of the century. Please place the cache back exactly as you found it so it will be equally difficult for the next geocacher to find.
