The hardest thing about this find is navigating the traffic on the approach.
This farming community was just a wide spot on highway 35 back in the days DesignDiva attended "NTSU". There is a water tower near the cache that for years had the high school's slogan "Fightin' Farmer" painted on it. For years that is the only knowledge known about Lewisville as seen from US 35.
Not wanting to host a breakfast without some facts, a little research revealed that this community has been named 'Tree City USA' for the 11th straight year. It hosts the Bassmaster Elite 50 fishing tournament that draws tens of thousands each first weekend in June. Two other annual contests are the annual tamale eating fest held in conjunction with the bass tournament and in August when it's good and hot in North Texas, the Texas Open Championship Chili Cook~off takes place. That's on the second weekend.
On the more refined side of the community, there's a 50 piece orchestra ~ The Lewisville Lake Symphony.
Of interest to this diversified group there are 63 caches within five miles of the event cache.
Still looking for fun~minded cachers to host this monthly event. We'll be needing help August on. Please check your calendars and volunteer. Sign up sheet will be at this event.
We begin gathering at 8:30 AM and end when the last cacher grabs their GPS and heads for the woods. All are welcome. Come on out Y'all!! See you on the 18th.
