Geocache Description:

This game, Tracking the Dragon, was conceived in 1991 by Wild Olympic Salmon as a way for people to learn about water. There are 12 bronze dragon tracks, which represent a phase of the hydrologic cycle: sedimentary rock, glaciers, clouds, rain, streams, freshwater wetlands, rivers, soil water, groundwater, estuaries, Puget Sound, Hood Canal, and the sea. Dragon tracks are bronze, about two feet long, and you can make rubbings of them with thin paper and crayon.

Here are autumn’s fat bucks and does, bending heads con cuernos y suaves, sipping the silver wall rushing past, looking up into blazing leaves, like Elk grazing high on the mountain’s horn, circling the ridges for a bedding camp where bright rivulets lace the ground. As streams come together with meadows between they fatten to cover larger spaces until a dozen become one or two and a foot of water deepens to three. Here rain swells, moving back to its center and the passing deer dream of winter pasture. A shadowy trio glides past rocks, grass, and stumps, leaving us to follow their tracks. You can solve the location of this track by using the last word from each line of the poem. It's probably a good idea to do that since the satelites were only giving me 130' accuracy when I placed the cache. The bronze track is no longer here, however the concrete mount is still there and it's in the shape of a track. You will be parking at the end of the Dosewallips Road. The trail across the wash-out starts to the left of the sign-in box in the middle of the road. There is also a trail that goes through the woods above the wash. Although most of the 2.5 mile RT hike is very easy on the old road - the wash-out may not be good for small children or people with a fear of heights. Be sure to check out what the river has done to the picnic table just before the cache. Thanks Nana Bear for letting me place the last cache in this fun series.
