This cache be a mighty fine tribute to the scalawags of the
central Kentucky geocaching scene,
the
White Diamond Pirates. The Pirates got their name from an
inexperienced hiking trip to the Red River Gorge area where they
encountered numerous white diamonds along the trail. Being hiking
and geocaching newbies they did not realize that the white diamond
is a common trail marker and not until many days later did they
find that their discovery of the white diamonds was not a unique
experience; hence the birth of the cache team name.
Not recommended at night, lest ye be wantin to end up in Davy
Jones' locker, there are many natural hazards not to mention no
source of light in the way deep.... And don't be tryin' to access
the cache by stopping on the interstate!
This cache is a great example of what Bud & I consider "real
down & dirty" caching and hope to encourage more of this type
in central KY.
LFUCG approval: BERT01 Special thanks to C. Michael Downs and Keith
Lovan for approving this new "uncharted location" cache area.
