Pleasanton Ridge is one of our favorite hiking locations in our hometown area. We wanted the cache to be as large as possible. No micros in this vast area for us.
The closest access is from Augustin Bernal Park, which is gated. For Pleasanton residents, bring your ID for access.
For non-Pleasanton residents, you must obtain a pass thru the Pleasanton Parks and Recreation Department, or access the area from the Oak Tree Staging Area on Foothill Rd.
The hike is about 3.5 miles RT from the Augustin Bernal Staging Area and it has a gain of about 800 feet elevation.
You are looking for a 50 cal. ammo can that has been appropriately cammoed. We have filled it with hiking and camping items as we are very fond of both, but exchange items as you like. The area is quiet and off the main trail. We found a good rabbit trail in the early spring, but it may be difficult to find it in the dry warmer season.
