Parking can be found at N 40' 52.101" W 076' 01.850 Those of you
with 4 wheel drive can get much closer if you wish (not necessary
to retrieve the cache). I have to add after seeing the first
retrieval, there is a major almost lake in the middle of the road,
the cache is located before this so you don't have to drive through
it. We parked across the street and walked to it without even
getting our feet wet.
Part of one of the earliest railroads built in the US and at one
time the highest point on the route of the Catawissa Railroad at
1750 ft above sea level. The railroad is no longer running. The
tunnel was completed in 1854 and was considered a great feat of
mountain railroad engineering at the time and is still something
neat to behold. Cache is located on the Lofty (town) side of the
tunnel you do not have to enter the tunnel to retrieve the cache.
If you decide to drive closer to the tunnel make sure you have a
4x4 vehicle as the water in the area can be quite deep.
