Geocache Description:

Welcome to Greenwood Cemetery, one of the oldest cemteries in middle Tennessee.

Land for this historic cemetery was part of a North Carolina grant to Nicholas Long. John White deeded it to the city of Columbia in 1808. Here are buried among the pioneers of the "Territory South of the River Ohio" and other early settlers, Major Samuel Polk and his wife Jane Knox, parents of President James K. Polk
