Geocache Description:

Located along a section of the Oak Ridges Moraine Trail South of Mosport International Raceway.
Cache elevation: 315m

This cache was originally hidden as part of the Home on the Moraine series, but has now been transitioned to a regular cache hide.

You can Park and enter the Oak Ridges Trail off Darlington Clarke Townline at: N44° 02.157' W78° 40.941' or Park in the lot and enter off Leskard Road at: N44° 01.949' W78° 39.030' following the "Old Swamp Road" Trail which was just added to the ORT! The trail does cross Mosport Road at N44° 02.376' W78° 39.861' but parking is Not Allowed along this section of road!

The cache is now a Camouflage Painted Ammo Can hidden in under some sticks and leaves.

Welcome to Mosport International Raceway! In the summer of 1960 Stirling Moss paid a visit to Toronto, at which time he saw the plans for the track and the work that had been done so far. While he was generally enthusiastic about the layout of the course, he did recommend that the single-radius carousel hairpin at the south end be changed to a 90-degree right followed by another right leading onto the back straight. Moss was convinced that this combination would be a much greater test of driving skill and provide a more interesting show for the spectators. The two turns, 5a and 5b have since become known as "Moss Corner" and you're standing around 300m from it.

Watch out for the ATV's and Dirt Bikes that often cross the trail coming to/from Mosport in the North. If you're (un)lucky, you'll get to experience the sounds of a typical Mosport track day!

The Oak Ridges Moraine extends 160 kilometres from the Niagara Escarpment in the west to the Trent River system in the east, and is on average 13 kilometres wide. One-hundred-and-fifty metres deep, the Moraine stands out as one of the most distinct landscapes of southern Ontario. Its height above the flat lands to the north and south, its rolling hills and river and stream valleys and large blocks of mixed forest provide solace and a sense of connection to the people who live, work and play on the Moraine, natural and wild habitat for flora and fauna, and untapped recreational opportunities.

NOTES:
  1. Family friendly.
  2. Bicycles allowed.
  3. Watch for ATV's.
