Out exploring when I came across one of these. What is it I thought to myself?
Sciurus niger, also known as the Fox Squirrel. It can be found statewide except for the Keys and perhaps Dade and Broward Counties. It can be one of the following colors, gray, gray brown, tan, dark brown, or black with an underside ranging from white to black. These guys are really big for squirrels, anywhere from 23-40" long including its long (11-13"), bushy tail.
They spend most of their time on the ground, but not all of it. This can be very important. They are active during the daytime, typically scrounging around during midmorning, noon, and late afternoon. They like to eat and eat and eat such things as acorns, nuts, pinecone seeds (bird seed if you put it out for the birds), tubers, fruit (grapes, tupelo(what is tupelo anyway?)), berries such as mulberries, blackberries, and dewberries, insects, bird eggs (scrambled or over easy?), buds, and mushrooms (hope these aren't the magic kind). They frequently like to play our game and (geo)cache nuts and seeds.
They build their nests in hollow cavities in pine, oak, and cypress trees or they go where Eagles dare and build leaf nests in the treetops.
Breeding takes place in late winter or early spring. A litter of 1-6 is born following a 45 day gestation. The young leave the nest when 3 months old. The older females like it so much that they breed again in summer.

Just in case someone needed to know where this guy was, I got out my GPSr and snapped some coordinates. It was very difficult to get good coordinates so I took a bunch of pictures. Hopefully whoever needs to find this guy can do it using the pictures and a little bit of help with their GPSr.
You can find this by memory (if you have a photographic memory). You can print out Set 1, 2 and 3 and use those for reference. Or you can print out each individual picture for better graphic imagery. Or for some of you maybe electronic handhelds with pics will work.
The posted coordinates are for parking and the place to begin your walk. Within 100 feet of the posted coordinates you will find the first sign. I will tell you the next one is in the same direction and will be the next sign you see. The rest is up to you. At the twelfth spot you will need your GPSr again. You will find what you seek .007 East of the object in the twelfth picture.
Sorry Overrover ... Pets are not allowed. You can always leave them at our house, Jackie loves to play with Phoenix and Dagger.
Sorry TheNomad ... this park is only open during daylight hours.
The idea for this cache came from a Capaldo cache that we did called Ztupid Puzzlez (now archived), replaced by Snapshot.
There is something in the cache for the First To Find. You can take all of it or part of it. Very little room for trade items.
