Chuck Walla: Greetings from Geocaching.com!

Since you have not responded to my reviewer log about your cache, the cache has been archived.

Some time ago, I posted a note to your cache page requesting a response from you to post what you were planning to do with the cache on the page and to send me a note. I have no record of a response, and no response tells me that you are not planning on replacing or repairing this cache. If I am wrong with that assumption, please let me know promptly. I can always unarchive the cache for you if needed.

Sincerely,

Geocache Description:

This cache is located at AUX ARC Park (pronounced Ozark) on the Arkansas River. The park is operated by the U.S. Army Corp Of Engineers who have given us permission to enjoy ourselves in this sport and this cache.

Below certain Dams on the mighty Arkansas evolved a sport known as SNAGGIN'. It plays like this; get a BIG snaggin' pole (or river rod as some would call it), attach the heaviest sinker and the biggest treble hook you can buy at the local bait store, walk a long trail to the waters generating from beneath the powerhouse at the Jeta-Taylor Lock and Dam, throw your (unbaited) line as far as you can without snaggin' concrete, jerk on that ol' pole as hard as you can then reel in the slack, and do it over and over and over again until you snag the big one. Snaggers aren't picky as they can haul in some big Sauger fish (which are the closest thing to a northern Pike in Arkansas waters), drum, carp, white bass, and the ever delicious Catfish like the Blue, MudCat, and of course the biggest Flathead Catfish. Local legend has it that when Scuba divers have dived in search of lost people below this Dam, they have surfaced and said that there were "Catfish down there big enough to swallow a man". In fact, when I hid this cache, I talked to a SNAGGER that had been fishing this way for 30 years and the biggest one he landed weighed 72 pounds. The one that got away broke his line (which is about as thick as most people's nylon stringers) and the Game Wardens found what was left of it 200 yards downstream. The big sinker was lodged between a tree. Game wardens weighed it at 94 pounds before releasing it. That would've broken the record at the time. Stage 1 is located in a heavily traveled way and IS NOT as difficult as it looks. I hid this stage with no less than 9 fisher muggles within 75' of it. Hunting for it might require some activity on your part that doesn't look suspicious (unless you carry a fishing pole). Once you find this stage it will redirect you to the final stage that should be an easy walk to. Note the SNAGGER's TRAIL that leads to SNAGGER's PARADISE on your way to Stage 2. Stage 2 was meant to be outta da way of approaching muggles, but still keep an eye out. S2 is not beyond the mow line maintained in this area. The container has a logbook but may not have a writing utensil. Original contents of the cache include a compass carabiner, a heart carabiner, a puzzle, a couple of smiley bobs found by us in local caches, and a dollar (We love the caches with money in them). After you score a find, don't forget to walk that lonely trail to look for any SNAGGERS that may be doing their thing.
