Geocache Description:

The White Rocks near Portrush, County Antrim

Stretching from Curran Strand in Portrush to Dunluce Castle are the unique limestone cliffs of the White Rocks. These soft sedimentary rocks have been carved through centuries into a labyrinth of caves and arches. You will also find the second largest sand dune in Ireland which forms the back drop to the world renowned, Royal Portrush Golf Course. This dune is part of an ongoing conservation programme and the cache is located at the White Rocks cliff end of the beach, far away from these dunes. White Rocks beach is one of Ireland’s finest beaches and has attained the international award of ‘Blue Flag’ status for its beach and water quality.

The White Rocks are located on North Antrim’s scenic Causeway coast and can be easily accessed from the A2 or A29. The entrance to the beach is clearly signposted. Travel down the access road and park in the car park.
The cache site can be accessed from either the headland or from the beach. Access from the beach itself is best. The cache is in a small tab lock box hidden slightly above the beach level to avoid sea tides. Adjacent cliffs may reduce gps accuracy.
