campyc: Sorry - this appears to be gone. Someone else can hide one nearby, I hope. It had a good and popular run.

Geocache Description:

Carpinteria's Citizen Conservationists (+ Coastal Conservancy) = a beautiful preserve for all of us to enjoy.

A large development of expensive homes was planned for this spot, but the California Coastal Conservancy, Carpinteria residents and others raised more than $4 million to preserve it forever as public parkland.

There are a couple of places to access this cache. Most popular is to take Bailard exit, and park in dirt lot just south of freeway. Cache is a very safe distance from the Amtrak rail line, and you will NOT cross the tracks to find it.

On most days, you will have a fine view of Santa Cruz Island. Near the bluffs, we saw many harbor seals, black oystercatchers (birds) and a gopher snake!

From the fence protecting the restortation area, go about 12 paces west on the trail - cache is about 10 paces toward the ocean under a baccharis bush. Be gentle with the bushes!

PLEASE RE-HIDE CACHE CAREFULLY AND COMPLETELY OUT OF SIGHT
