Rat Slide Cache Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

wolfmaster: This cache has lived out its usefulness. No one has been around since last September, almost a year now. It's time to retire it. Thanks to everyone who visited here. I pulled the cache today and it was still in great shape and exactly where it was planted.

Geocache Description:

Easy Summer Time Cache

The Rat Slide is all I have ever known this hill as. I think it's called the Rat Slide because in winter that's about the only way down, sliding. It's actually named the Rew-Rixford Road off Route 646 just outside Rew. During the summer months it is a good dirt road that goes from Rew down into Rixford. Just about any car should be able to make this. This hill is steep so you will need your brakes as you go down. If you come up from Rixford, you can save wear and tear on your brakes.

Roughly 1/2 mile from the top of the hill there is a dirt road going off to your left. This is at N41 54.853 W78 32.035. From there it's about 350 feet up the road and then a very short distance off the road.

This is a smaller cache placed in a sports drinking bottle. There is a logbook to sign and some small trade items listed below.

"THERE IS NO WINTER MAINTENANCE ON THIS ROAD"

Original Cache Items
2 Packages of Stanley screwdriver bits, one long, one short
Whistle Compass
Pin Compass
Ped-o-meter
Steel Whistle
A couple of key chains
