Museum of the Earth at PRI Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

NYPaddleCacher: I am archiving this cache to make room for a new cache that is going to be placed by someone at the Museum. It's been around since 2005, is infrequently found, and I think that geocachers will appreciated the new geocache that is going to be placed near the museum.

Geocache Description:

The Museum of the Earth at the Paleontological Research Institute houses one of the nation's largest and finest fossil collections. It is an educational facility that stresses the interdependence of the Earth and its life, fostering greater public understanding of the environment, its history, and its future.

When I lived near Hyde Park, NY several years ago, I was lucky enough to watch the bones and enormous tusks of a mastadon as they were excavated from a small pond in a neighbor's backyard. It was an exciting surprise to discover the complete skeleton assembled in the museum. Another was recently discovered in northwest NY, and once again, PRI and Cornell are involved in the excavation.

Above coords are for 1st stage which has clue to cache location. This is a dinosaur/fossil themed cache so please trade appropriately.
