Let me tell you about the birds and the trees Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

northernpenguin: After over 4 years, I think this cache has had about all the traffic it's going to get.
It's time to retire the cache, and open the spot for other caches.

I'll be around to pick up the container in the next day or so.

Geocache Description:

A short multicache on paved trails around Georgetown's new Gellert Community Centre.

This cache was born out of a discussion I had with another local cacher last night in the Golden Horseshoe Geocaching IRC chatroom last night.

Res2100 suggested I should explore this park, and the trails it contains. I explored, and now - if you decide to go visit this cache - you will too.

A person caching in a wheelchair may need assistance getting the final cache container but otherwise the trails are completely wheelchair, bike, rollerblade and stroller friendly.

The posted co-ordinates will take you to a sign that talks about how local students planted a bunch of trees in the park to help naturalize it and benefit some local birds. You'll see the birdhouses all over the place, and if you come at the right time of day you may get to see some of the birds that live here.

When you get to the sign, I'm going to have you collect some information, and then do a bit of math to get the actual cache container location.

First, how many schools participated in the project?

Multiply this number by 10, then divide by 100.
Add the number to:

43 35.942

and you have the North Co-ordinate of the cache.

Second, how many students participated in the project?
Add to this number the highest grade level of the students.

Divide this number by 1000 and add it to the following:

079 49.354

... which gives you the west co-ordinate.

The final cache container location should be within 750M.

The cache is a micro, and you will need to bring something to write with.
Please watch for muggles at the cache site - it's a busy place
There's a Tim Horton's certificate for the FTF. Make sure you put the container back where you found it.
