We placed this cache on Memorial Day in honor of our dad, who loved this lake. We could fill books with great memories of times spent with him here, but it is enough to say that to us, his spirit resides here. There is a beautiful state campground and day-use beach on the lake if you'd like to spend more time. Now, on to the cache:
The initial coordinates, listed above, will take you to the center of a picture postcard New England town. You will pass by an authentic General Store here that's worth a stop and has nice sandwiches and desserts. Try the homemade rice pudding if they have it. At the coords, calculate:
A= (date on memorial) - 1257
B= 447 - (number of names on the memorial)
Now plug "A" and "B" into the following coordinates:
N 43 26.A
W 073 12.B
At this spot you will see a community garden that our dad helped to develop. He also built the original version of the sign that you see here, which was destroyed by a vehicle run amok a while back and replaced with this very close replica. On the NORTH facing side of the tallest man-made object here, there is a series of 3 and then 2 numbers. Assign those digits to the following letters:
1st digit = A
2nd digit = B
3rd digit = C
4th digit = D
5th digit = E
Okay, you're almost done with the cipherin'. Plug those values into these coordinates:
N 43 26.(D+A+A)(E)(A)
W 073 12.(A+A)(D-C)(C+D)
Here you will find the final, an ammo box repainted and labeled. Please sign logbook and record what you trade. Special thanks to MarMama for her assistance in setting up this cache.
