Geocache Description:

A very accessible cache in southwest Bowmanville near the Storm Water Quality Pond. You can park in many places to access this cache but I usually park at Dr. Ross Tilley Public School or at the west end of Squires Gate Drive.

This cache is near many fun things for kids - 2 playgrounds (one at Dr. Ross Tilley School and another at the Baseline Community Centre), a soccer field, baseball diamond, basketball court and a nice paved path are all within 200 meters of the cache. Bring the kids along for this one.

A few words of caution: In the summer, there are quite a few nettles and some anthills in the area so wear long pants and close-toed shoes to be more comfortable. In the spring and after heavy rain, water levels are much higher by design so be careful at those times of the year. The cache itself is well above the drainage culverts so it should survive the spring runoff but I'll watch that carefully this coming spring. The Red-Wing Blackbirds will simply announce your presence to the neighborhood, otherwise they are harmless.

It is a small container so bring appropriate items to trade. A Red-Winged Blackbird was among the initial contents.
