This cache has been archived.

The Infielders: Well I forgot to archive this event cache, so I'm doing it now. Thanks again, all these weeks later to all who came, all who helped with school supplies and all who had a good time.

We were smiled upon by God with great weather, a great location and a great time! Let's do it again soon and until then, HAPPY CACHING!!!!!!!! [:)]

Geocache Description:

A quick note about the cache "Christmas in July: Santa's Ammo Box", I have a note on the cache page and we're awaiting Florida Cacher to "unarchive" it. The cache IS approved and as soon as he flips the switch, it'll be available for all to log it! I know the Dream Cachers were FTF as a bunch of folks strolled up to get it today.

Christmas in July!

The final totals of all school supplies collected is as follows:
33 Backpacks
41 Crayon Boxes
7 Boxes of markers
3 Boxes of colored pencils
8 Book covers
2 Bottles of Softsoap
150 Ziploc Bags
3 Large packages of Kleenex
3 Small packages of Kleenex
1 Bottle of hand sanitizer
8 1" Binders
13 Pencil boxes
2 Zippered pencil pouches
6 Boxes of Math Flashcards
2 Packages of Notepads
1 Package of Index cards
3 Packages of Post-it-Notes
3 Calculators
3 First Aid kits
1 Bow Compass
5 Scissors
2 Hilighters
39 Glue Sticks
25 Bottles of glue
38 12" rulers
155 Eraser caps
17 Handheld erasers
9 Pencil sharpeners
45 Pencil grips
126 Folders
290 Pens
792 Pencils
91 Spiral notebooks
9,885 Sheets of notebook paper
500 Sheets of printer paper
1 Partridge in a Pear Tree

If you were to add up the cost of all of the items, we're sure it would well exceed $1,000, maybe even $1,500. But when a child is given something new, brand new, what that can do to his/her confidence and spirit and desire to want to go to school is immeasurable. Maybe we can save some student from quitting school by affecting their desire to want to learn because of having a brand new item so they won't have a "hand-me-down" or something "used". Who knows? But for now everyone who helped out deserves a lot of credit for being so generous. Thank you. Maybe we can do this again next summer, that's a long way off but for now, pat yourselves on the back and know that in the coming days of a new school year some kids will now have something nice when they otherwise may not have.

Garmin© or Magellan™?

The GPS group in the field was a hoot. It didn't really prove anything other than they're all very accurate but when we get the pictures from the event, we'll post them here.
