I Motjärnshyttan tillverkades tackjärn mellan år 1643 till 1916, då hyttan lades ned. Motjärnshyttan har varit en av de viktigaste och största tackjärnsproducenterna för Uddeholms bruk och har även under större delen av sin historia varit i Uddeholms bruks ägo.

Arbetare vandrade till sin arbetsplats i Motjärnshyttan från torpen i skogarna i Motjärnshyttans omgivning. En av dessa arbetare var Jan Persson. Han var helt blind, men vandrade trots det varje dag hela vägen till Motjärnshyttan från sin bostad i Kärret. (se cachen Gumlaggen Kärret)

In Motjärnshyttan they made iron between 1643 to 1916,
when the melting house were closed. Motjärnshyttan has been one of the most important and biggest iron producers for Uddeholms factory and it also has been owned by Uddeholms factory under the most time.
The workers walked to their work in motjärnshyttan from the crofts in the forests close to Motjärnshyttan. One of the workers was Jan Persson. He was totally blind but still walked to motjärnshyttan every day from his house in kärret. (see the cache gumlaggen kärret )
