Geocache Description:

This is a quiet beauty spot and a protected natural and historical location. The cache itself is by a stretch of river, zoned and sought after for fly fishing. Nearby is a country manor (Berby herregård) from 1800s that sometimes hosts events. Once, this was a women's gardening school and then a domestic science school.

Please check elsewhere whether any of the herregård buildings are open at the time of your visit. For the cache, park by the road and follow the track and then footpath away from the manor. On your right you'll see the fast-running stream, and the whole valley is quite steep sided, different from the more rounded shapes of Østfold to the north. The rocks are unusual, as are the flora and fauna. For example, it is the only area of Østfold where a certain type of mussel is found. Fishermen always seem to be here, and pop up unexpectedly from the bushes.

Be careful to conceal the cache just as you found it. (It might be difficult to find if there is a lot of snow.) Nearby is a seat where you can watch and listen to the river, and perhaps observe casting technique and some fish biting.
