After finding most of geocaches around
Muncie Lakes, it was apparent to me there were no caches at
the lakes themselves. I choose to rectify that with this
cache. Depending on where you start, this cache can be a
five, three or one star terrain rating.

The Senior Hiker route (5 stars): You don't
have to be a senior citizen to take this route. You just got to be
willing to walk a while. Park at the Muncie Lakes trailhead off of
Ranch Rudolf road in the Brown Bridge Quiet Area. The trail to the
lakes are plus or minus two miles or so. It’s a great hike through
the woods; you are sure to see wildlife along this
route.

The Junior Hiker route (3 stars): This is a
medium length route for those that either don't want to walk that
far or driving up to the cache takes all of the fun out of it. Take
the single track next to the Muncie Lakes trailhead and stay right
at the first intersection and go until you hit the following
waypoint: N44 40.778 W85 26.489. Park your car and the hike to
Muncie Lakes is about a mile. This is a good route to see wildlife
as well.

The non-hiker (1 star): If you want to "cach
and grab," keep on driving north past the Junior Hiker route and
turn left at a single track (N44 40.896 W85 25.298). That single
track will take you right up to the shore of Muncie Lakes. If you
feel guilty about being lazy, then stop when you cross the Muncie
Lakes trail and you’ll be about 0.30 miles from Muncie Lake,
otherwise the single track will continue on to Muncie Lake. Advice
for those with grumpy kids: There are a couple of horse hitching
posts at the lake to tie them to!
