In preparation for a 20 mile hike I plan to do on Chicago's lakefront this July, I have been hiking to and from work along a stretch of Highway 100 from Janesville Road north to Watertown Plank Road. Along the way, I started thinking, it might be interesting to place some caches while I'm at it. This idea progressed into this event, "The Highway 100, 100. I picked 100 as the number of caches only because of the name of the road. I decided to incorporate a larger stretch of Highway 100 when I ran out of ideas to place them in the stretch of the road mentioned above, so the series will be between just south of North Avenue on the north to Highway 32 on the east, since Highway 100 curves around Ryan road and then heads east almost to Lake Michigan.
Event will start at 7am and end at dark. Meet at Picnic Area #4 to obtain the coordinates for your first cache.
Socko and Uncle_Fun will be based at the park for the day for those who cannot make the official start time. Feel free to come and go as you need. Just keep in mind that in order to find all 100 caches, it may take you the entire day. To allow an opportunity to locate all of the caches you can, the cache containers will be in place till Sunday at sunset. The containers will be picked up at that point.
Please obey all parking regulations and traffic laws along the cache route. Highway 100 can be busy at times and your safety is the number one priority.
There are many places for you to eat along the cache route. Therefore food will not be provided at the park.
