I gave this a middling terrain rating because it depends where you
access this area. It could be a #3 or a #4.5. Coords are averaged
because of the canopy. You can find newly-built wooden stairs at
roughly N40.49.883 / W089.35.630 which will make the descent toward
the creek easier if you approach from the south.
Placed in Robinson Park with Peoria Park Dist. permission. The
cache is a 30 cal. ammo can charged with misc goodies (some for
kids too) and completely hidden from view----you have to move
something to see it. This area of the park is particularly scenic
with steep ravines on either side of this very long and level
east/west ridge that has a path running its length----very easy
walking on the ridge. This is the only area nearby where I see
pileated woodpeckers----they’re literally the size of a crow (see
attached photo)! Get on the Internet and listen to their call,
you’re certain to hear at least one out there. With a large,
pointed crest on their head, they look just like Woody Woodpecker
(for those of you who are old enough to remember that cartoon
bird). Enjoy P.S. At the moment there are four other caches in the
immediate area.
