Located on an old CCC camp off Hwy 94 approx 2.5 miles north
Traditional cache located at Camp Autrain - A CCC Camp that was converted in 1944 to a German Prisoner of War camp. This camp housed 226 POWs; 2 Officers; 37 Enlisted Men
Area has numerous foundations from this time, not much identifiable, but in it's heyday used prisoners to help cut pulpwood for the country's paper industry. The open area was the camp's soccer field, and the actual camp is just north of the cleared area, surrounded by woods. Nature is slowly reclaiming the site.
Since cache was first placed, numerous trees have fallen over the original path. Be prepared to work your way over, under and around, and bring plenty of bug spray!
