This cache was updated with slightly different location and coords on 3/24/06
This location was first used as a logging camp back in 1901 by Alphonse Miron. The camp was named after one of Miron's children, Evelyn. It later became one of several Civilian Conservation Corps camps around the Upper Peninsula of Michigan that was converted to a World War II Prisoner of War camp. A few building foundations remain. Take a walk around and imagine what it might have been like here in 1944. This cache can be accessed easily from 2 ways. Also, see a friend's cache, CAMP AUTRAIN/ENEMY IN OUR MIDST.
September 10, 2006 I have been seeing the images posted from finders. The camp was NOT if the open field. Follow the trails around the forested area near the cache.
