*gln: ARCHIVING ABANDONED CACHE

Greetings Mimi & Pa,

Looks like our timing is off and It’s time to say goodbye to this cache.

Since I haven't any maintenance here in a very long time, I am going to assume that your priorities have changed and you’ve gone in a different direction.

Archiving due to lack of maintenance is permanent.
CACHE ARCHIVAL IS PERMANENT.

Let me know if I can be of assistance in the future.

Thanks a MILLION for all you have done, Glenn

Geocache Description:

Most of this 4 part multi-cache can be done without getting out of your car. The last stage gives it the 1.5 rating. You will drive about 5 miles doing this cache.

This is a 4 part cache. You will get information at each of the first 3 stages that will give you the location of the micro cache(magnetic Key holder). You will need to bring a pen or pencil with you. In each part you will find the answer to the question and replace it for the letter in the final coordinates.

The first location is at the coodinates that are listed for the cache page. This is the upstairs apartment over a garage that the Barrow Gang, that included Bonnie & Clyde, stayed at in Joplin. There was a shootout with lawmen and 2 lawmen lost their lives during this event. "A" is the 4th number of the address on the red door.

The coorinates for the 2nd location are 37* 04.664N and 094* 30.832W. This is a restaurant that was a favorite to many people including Gangsters. During the 20's and 30's Joplin was a boomtown because of the Lead and Zinc mining. It was smaller than large cities but had the feel of a large party town like Kansas City or Chicago. When a Gangster felt that the large city was a little to hot for him to stay in, he would come to Joplin. Because this restaurant had good food, a bar and gambling up stairs, it was a good Gangster hangout.

(In the remaining questions find the number corresponding to the letter in the question. Example: alphabetically A=1 - Z=26)

"B" is the 4th letter of the last name of the man who recommended this restaurant.
"C" is the 1st letter of the last name of the man who recommended this restaurant.

The coordinates for the 3rd location are 37* 05.311N and 094* 30.866W. In 1933 Machine Gun Kelly was involved in a kidnapping that took place in Oklahoma City. A ransom letter was mailed from this building that at that time was the Joplin Post Office. The ransom was for $200,000 and was to be thrown from a moving train.
In front of this building are 2 signs. On the larger of the 2 is a 3 word name for what is located in the building. These words are in large black print.
"D" is the 7th letter of the first word of the 3 word name.
"E" is the 6th letter of the 2nd word of the 3 word name.

You now have the information to find the cache coordinates. Fill in the numbers in place of the "letters" in the coordinates below.

3"A"* 0"B".6"C"8 N
094* 2"D".66"E" W

Gangsters are known to reside here. Hope you had fun!!!! The log seems to keep being taken. Post a picture of the site and take credit. Put the date of find with the picture.
