Geocache Description:

This cache is placed to celebrate the North Manchester Public Library's tenth anniversay in its new building. It is a relatively simple two stage cache. It must be completed during library hours: Mon, Fri,& Sat 9:00-5:00, Tues, Wed, Thurs 9:00-8:00. Closed on Sunday.

The listed coordinates take you to the original Carnegie library building built using $10,000 donated by Andrew Carnegie. At this building you need to note the year on the cornerstone on the front of the building.

For the second stage, proceed to the new library building built in 1995, at a cost of $2,650,000, with a gift from the Mary K. Peabody Foundation. The coordinates are N41 00.183 W085 46.169 for the front entrance. Once inside the building, proceed to the Indiana Room where you will need to conduct research utilizing two books. The first book is the key to your endeavor. It is located with the call number (ARC FIC DRE) and is Sister Carrie by Indiana author Theodore Dreiser. To locate the second volume, also by an Indiana author, you need to utilize the number you found on the cornerstone at the Carnegie building. Drop the first digit. You should now have a three digit number. Add the dropped digit to both the second and third digits of your new number. (for example, 1066 would become 066 after dropping the first digit, which becomes 077 after adding the dropped digit). Then plug your number into this format: ARC ### GEO.

The Indiana Room is often used for research by patrons. Feel free to remove both books to a secluded location if necessary. Please return them as you found them in their original locations.

This cache is modeled after the Thank You Mr. Carnegie #2 cache at the Huntington, Indiana library. A huge thank you goes to Dragon Ryders Three for their help and advice in placing this cache.
