This is a small cache hidden in the trees just off the roadside. Its size fits somewhere in between the micro cache and small cache categories. There's nothing inside other than a log book & pencil. This is kind of a "Sign in and Move on" cache. Overall Rating of 1.5 for having to step up a couple feet and a little bit of shrubbery that you have to walk around. A Terrain Rating of 2 because you may encounter a couple bumps while on the dirt road.
The cache container is an old military decon container, O/D in color, and just the right size for a log book and pencil but nothing more. Well, maybe you can leave your calling/signature card.
You gotta love an area that has more dirt road than you can possible travel in a full weekend of wheeling. While traveling mainly inside the Uintah NF, we occasionally found ourselves in the Ashley NF. All of the surrounding roads are well maintained making it enjoyable for those that like to take a smooth easy ride. On the other hand there are many "trails" heads that turn off from the main road and will give you a little rougher ride without putting you life in danger.
While traveling these dirt roads we watched the GPSr elevation readings go up and down at the 10k mark. We decided to do a cache at exactly 10,000 feet. Exact is a relative term, it was exact for my Garmin 60cs, but for yours it will probably be different. When you sign the log book, put down your GPSr make/model and your Elevation reading just for the enjoyment of the others.
