Close to the old Akloo Ski Hill, South of Cranbrook.
At one time all residents of Cranbrook would know where the Akloo Ski Hill was located. Now it is just in the memories of us ‘old folk’. The ski hill closed in the 1970’s as it proved to be an unreliable source of income. The old hill is now private property that is owned by members of the “Viking Lodge”. Please respect their ‘No Trespassing’ signs as you go looking for this cache which is placed outside of their private property.
One way to access this site is to drive to the end of 12th Avenue South as far as you can and park at N49 29.134 W115 45.837. From here is a well-worn track to the cache site which is situated very close to one of the old supports for the ski lift. This is a dog and mountainbike friendly trail. Even youngsters will have no difficulty with the gentle grade.
The cache originally contained:- a keychain compass, a build-your-own pig, a gold heart, canadian Tire Money, Canada keyring, a copper scottie keyring, logbook and pencils
