Our second cache is hidden between Church Lench and Rous Lench near Evesham, Worcestershire.
Church Lench and Rous Lench are two of the five Lench villages. The other three are Ab Lench, Atch Lench and Sheriff's Lench. The pretty villages are full of character and worth visiting as all have lots of black and white thatched cottages (and in Rous Lench there is even a half timbered letter box) all built thanks to the Reverend William Chafy-Chafy but the one thing that they do not have is a pub. This apparently was due to the same Reverend Chafy-Chafy who was squire and parson at Rous Lench in the 1870s and was "an opponent of beer and Baptists". The biblical verse carved into the stonework of Church Lench Church of England first school (opposite the church) was also down to him as are others in some of the other villages. Worth a look at in Church Lench is Toy Cottage in Malt House Lane which is a tiny one up/one down cottage said at one time to have been home to a family of fourteen! There are pubs in other nearby villages and Alcester is only a few minutes away. Ragley Hall is also nearby.
The cache is a small sized tupperware box with a few bits and pieces and Georgie Porgie TB. You can park by the side of the church in Church Lench (be aware of services on a Sunday) Parking co-ords are N52 09.590 W001 58.010. It can be included in various walks if you refer to the Ordnance Survey maps. There are some lovely views on the way to the cache which is about half a mile away and since the word lench means hill, there is one small steepish hill to climb but otherwise easy walking. The cache is not far from the path, easily accessible and there is no need to climb any fences or trespass on the private land nearby.
