Knapps Loch lies just South of Kilmacolm and is designated a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation with open water, swamp and marsh habitats.
This is an easy walk round the Loch and through the Knapps Community Woodland. The area is popular with dog walkers and fishermen, so expect some company.
The loch itself is man made and was created early in the 20th century by a local fishing club. It is well stocked with brown trout.
Note that the area around the loch is used to graze cattle, so you may have to negotiate some cows near the start.
