Rattlingcrew: The cache died today, the KHP Special Response Team blew it up. It was apparently found by a non-gecacher and reported to the Highway Patrol. They X-rayed the container and did not see anything hazardous inside, they blew it up anyway.... If you decide to submit another here, be sure to clearly mark the container and maybe we should use something clear for this one. Glen

Geocache Description:

This cache is a replacement for the original Heartland Hoot Owl, placed by Cachinizers.

NOTE: The Rest Area has reopened. The cache should be fully accessible. (11/26/08): The cache was relocated approximately 300 feet from the original location. It had been moved once by contractors removing trees. The log was signed once by unknown contractors in February and once more by the fencing crew in May. I'm glad they chose to leave the cache be and not discard it as refuse. A new right of way fence has been built. Access to the cache location is still possible from the county road, but you will be required to cross a barbed-wire fence which has been stretched tightly.

There are two methods of approach. One may require crossing a barbed wire fence, but is likely more discrete. The other leaves you wide open to potential muggles. Terrain is flatland when approaching from the rest area parking lot. It is a barbed wire fence and a thin tree-line when approaching from the county road.

The container is a standard green ammocan.

While searching for a new location to hide the cache after contractors grubbed the trees around the existing location, I found a letterbox "Amber Waves," so if you are into letterboxing, check it out.
