Geocache Description:

This hide was inspired by a mysterious cache we found at Saxe Point Esquimalt in June 2005. It was there since Aug 2004 & never appeared on any known geocaching site!
To help discover it's origins we re-created it in a new location in hopes someone would come forward. To this date, nobody knows who placed it and the original cache is now gone. It was just called "Critter Cache" and it was located at these coordinates:
N48º 25.305' W123º 25.178'

The hider of the "Critter Cache" neglected to identify themselves and the only clues to it's origins are that it was established in August 2004 & came with a standard GC.com stash notice. When we found this cache we were looking for a clue to stage 4 of "Truth or Consequences". The cache was dry inside and there were only a few items in it, with a few other log entries from GC.com members spanning about ten months, all found it "by accident" while looking for the same multi-cache stage.

mtn-man could not find any evidence of this cache ever being submitted to GC.com so we were very curious about it's origins and how the hider expected anyone to be able to find it without publishing it's location even though amazingly, a few lucky cachers actually did find it anyway?!

The original mysterious critter cache is now gone from Saxe Point and so the mystery remains unsolved but the legacy of the Critter Cache lives on...

Our cache is simillar in size, theme & hide technique to the original. Enjoy this nice walk on a gravel trail to a great viewpoint in Oceanview Park on Triangle Mountain. The easiest access is from Delora where there is convenient parking at the trail head.

We HIGHLY recommend bringing some binoculars or even a telescope so you can enjoy the awesome views of Esquimalt and Victoria. On a clear day you can even see a great view of Mt. Baker!

From the center post of the viewpoint there is a 5805m line of sight distance at 82.63º true and -1.25º Alt' to the original cache site on Saxe Point.

As the name implies, this cache is "creepy crawly critter" related in it's theme.
Please stick with the theme as much as possible with trade items (TB's excepted).

The cache is a 6"x6"x2" Lock&Lock with a log book, pencil, pen & trade items.

* To get to the actual hiding spot, you will need to do some creeping & crawling!
You have your choice of crawling up or creeping down a bit to get right to it.

Enjoy!
