By popular demand, I sweetened the trek across the Tanbark Trail from The Allegheny River to the Trailhead on Route 337 by sprinkling out a few more caches in between the existing caches to break up the three mile hike a little bit. This one was placed just about on the highest elevation in this three mile stretch of this very enjoyable trail. It is about a third of a mile out past the final stage of the Guardians of the Tanbark Trail if you are coming up from Route 62, and about three to four tenths of a mile farther down the trail past Tranquility if you are coming in off Route 337.
At any rate, if you enjoy a nice hiking trail, The Tanbark Trail is a well kept secret and a very enjoyable hike from either end. I rated the terrain as a 3.5 coming up from Route 62, and it would probably drop to a 3.0 coming in from Route 337.
The cache is a regular .30 caliber ammo can filled with the usual kcepenn outdoor items and useful swag. Of course, there is a kcepenn signature FTF button for the first finder. You can now get 5 caches in this three mile hike: Guardians of the Tanbark Trail, Tanbark Button Cache, Top of The Tanbark, Tanbark Tranquility, and The Tanbark Kids Cache. Enjoy the Tanbark!
