I realise not everyone's fortunate
enough to have as many purple things as I have, so if you
really want to swop something, but don't have a 'purple'
exchange, go ahead, and we'll pretend we haven't
noticed!
The cache is a small tupperware container
(alas it is black, not purple) hidden on the cliff top above
Rhossili Beach on Gower, South Wales. I think it is less than half
a mile from the car park on pretty level terrain, so this should be
quite a quick one. It is hidden among the gorse, there is a narrow
path leading to it, but you may wish to wear trousers rather than
shorts.
A small hint: if you approach it
from the cliff side, rather that from the main path, you will only
have to step over a couple of small gorse bushes, rather than
plough your way through several feet of them!
The hiding place is a safe distance from
the cliff top, at least 80ft away, but please keep a close eye on
children and dogs as the cliff edge is very sudden with a sheer
drop in places. Also, please take care not to trample the area too
much when hunting, as this will spoil it for other
visitors.
Travel and facilities
There is a car park at Rhossili
(unfortunately there is a charge of £2.00 to park here at times,
but I believe it is free in the evenings and during the winter
months). There are also public toilets, various eating places and a
Visitor’s Centre to keep you busy!
Fellow Geocachers the Chens have suggested
parking at the church - you are encouraged to place a donation in
the slot in the wall if you do so. The Chens also tell me that in
the church there is a memorial to Petty Officer Evans, who was born
here and perished with Scott in the Antarctic in 1912. Sounds
interesting, definitely worth a look!
If you travel by bus, as I do, there is a
bus stop very close to the car park, with a regular bus from
Swansea Quadrant.
Sorry, but the decrypted clue is quite
long!
P.S. Not wishing to name any Geocachers in
particular, but a purple gecko might feel very at home in this
cache…but please don’t feel obliged!
