Geocache Description:

Terrian is a 1 star until the last 15 feet then it is either a 1.5 or 2.

Welcome to the Merrimack River Trail in Lowell. There are some great views of the river and some old mills. The path to the cache will not lead you to view of the mills but you only have to go less than .1 miles past the cache to see them.

The path which has access from an apartment parking lot, is flat and paved (although the pavement is now covered in sand in some places). It is great for bikes and walking. I have never hiked the whole trail so I am not sure how far it goes with this paved terrain but I assume it is for a couple of miles. I will update with more information when I have it.

The cache is a small plastic container and will involve about 15 feet of bushwhacking at the end. Well that is if you go off the trail at the right spot.

There is a moderate level of muggles but there is good visibility in both directions on the trail near the cache.

The best place to park is east of the cache on 110 just in front of the apartment complex. Be careful because there are some places at the complex that are resident only parking. I took readings from two places in that area that I think it is safe to park. 1. In front of the brick wall that is in front of the apartment complex with the following coordinates: N 42 38.771 W 071 17.482. 2. Down the hill near the trail accessed through the apartment parking lot: N 42 38.741 W 071 17.518

If you are looking for a great place to hang out before or after your find, the Lowell Brewery is very close. Here are the coordinates for that: N42 39.064 W71 18.995.

Have fun!!
