For several decades I have know about Cilley Road, currently a trail on the north side of Governor's Lake. Why is this remote path a named road? A trip to the library showed that the Cilley family was very prominent around the time of the revolution. Two Cilleys of note were a Captain in the revolutionary army and a US Congressman. The Congressman has some level of notoriety. It seems in his time it was not uncommon to settle political differences by dueling. As the result of a difference of opinion on a congressional issue, Cilley and his opponent agreed on a duel in which Cilley was killed. Apparently Cilley was well regarded enough by his colleagues that Congress subsequently outlawed dueling. Over the years I have ridden motorcycles and mountain bikes on this road many times.
The cache is located just north of the Lillian Cassier Memorial Forest. The recommended route into the cache involves parking in a small public lot at the end of Briar Road and following the Range Road to Cilley Road. Consult OpenStreetMaps.org to see the trails. The cache is about a 50 yard easy bushwack off the road. This is an active area during hunting season so plan accordingly. I edited the rating on the is cache to be more in tune with current standards.
