Nomex: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. Geocache Description:

You have to trample through some tall grass and bushes to get this cache. The rating for wheelchair access is a two and a half star, because of the grass and branches.

This is the third of a series of caches designed by third graders and their teacher. These caches are meant to address a lot of the California Social Studies Standards for third grade. This series of caches should take you to historical sites and other sites that are significant to the culture, economy and goverment of The Santa Maria Valley.

The container is a film canister guarded by a snail. It contains a log and a pencil. It is almost in plain sight.

From here you can see the remains of the Pleasant Valley School. It was the first school built in the Santa Maria Valley. It opened in February of 1870. It was situated on old Nance Road, now Bradley Road, about half a mile south of Main Street between the Cook and Battles ranches. The building was moved to this location where it was part of a planned park called The Ikola Historical Park. The Newlove house stood here also, but it was moved again. The Firestone family purchased it and moved it to Foxen Canyon where they restored it.
