This cache has been archived.

Wis Kid: As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Geocache Description:

Welcome to the City of Greenfield Konkel Park. Dedicated in 1990 the Stanley J. Konkel Park, it recognizes the dedication and efforts of Mr. Konkel for 34 years of service to the community on the Park & Recreation Board. This cache could be a quick stop off I-894 as it is on Layton Ave between the Loomis Road and S 60th Street exits.

In 2002, during "The Year of The Trails" construction began on the comprehensive multi-purpose walkway and trail within the park. In July 2005, the LifeTrail® system was installed and thus the theme of this cache. LifeTrail® is a series of outdoor fitness station designed specifically to meet the needs of the active older adult.

As you head to this cache, enjoy the walk on the paved trail and stop to try out the variety of physical fitness activities.

Konkel Park has public restrooms, bubbler (water fountain) and pay phone during the summer months. The playground equipment is always popular with the kids. Sorry, dogs are not allowed in the City of Greenfield Parks. Park hours are sunrise until 10 PM. It is not recommended you search for this one before/ after those hours as the Police station is right across the street.

This is a micro cache, a pencil was provided when it was hidden however, bring your own pen/pencil just to be sure. Please leave only your signature in the log and no goodies in this cache. 8/30/06 The Parks Supervisor has noted damage on the skirts of the light poles in this area. This is not a "skirtlifter" cache, you should not be searching under the light poles. Thank you

1/31/07 - The trails at Konkel Park are NOT plowed. It is suggested that you park in the lot and trek across the "tundra". Be aware of the wind chill factor as this could be a cold and windy walk. The cache hide IS winter friendly.
