Geocache Description:

R-32 copy two-car 10-50, property damage only.
Denver, R-32 westbound Interstate 70 from mile post 260, go ahead.
R-32, this is going to be a two car 10-50 in the intersection of Colorado 93 and U.S. 6
10-4 I’ll be en-route, ETA less than five minutes.

As you can see from the brief explanation above, this is not your ordinary, every day cache. This cache will test your orientation ability to the fullest while teaching you a skill possessed by each of the state troopers that protect the public roadways of the wonderful state of Colorado.
For this cache you will need a few tools to assist you with your search. First, you will need a standard orienteering compass. Next, you will need a scientific calculator that has the ability to derive sin, cosign, and tangent values. If you don’t have a scientific calculator at home, no need to worry. You can work most of the equation without one. Once you reach the part of the equation that requires the calculator, you can go to your local Wal-Mart and work the rest of the equation on one of theirs. Finally, you will need to copy the attached equations to determine the final resting spot of the cache.
The way this cache works is that you determine the speed of vehicle # 1 and vehicle # 2 which will give you the distance and the direction in which to search. Whatever you do, don’t give up on this one too quickly. You can complete this one. I will walk you through it.
Have you ever wondered what Troopers do while they are on the scene of an accident? Well, through a thorough investigation, they determine exactly what happened, why it happened and what measures could have been taken to prevent the accident from occurring. The ultimate goal is to not have that accident happen again. “First in traffic safety.” That is what they say. I will be walking you through a fairly common accident where two vehicles collide in the middle of an intersection. You will not need to respond to the above listed intersection to complete your investigation. I have already obtained all of the information that you will need to plug into your final equation. Once you have the required answers, go to the listed coordinates where you will begin your search.
Okay, let's get on with our investigation. Together, we will determine who was at fault in this accident and how to prevent further accidents from happening. Below is some helpful information to plug into your equation that is on the attached document. Once you have all of the information plugged in, work the equation to determine the speed of both vehicles prior to impact. Once you have your speeds, take the speed of vehicle # 1 and multiply that by five. This will give you the distance from the above listed coordinates that the cache is located. Next, take the speed of vehicle # 2 and multiply that by five. That will give you the degrees in which you need to travel from the above listed coordinates. Are you ready?
Vehicle # 1 was traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 6. Vehicle # 2 was traveling northbound on Colorado Highway 93. Vehicle # 1 collided broadside with vehicle # 2 at a 90 degree angle. After impact, vehicle # 1 skids off at a 16 degree angle from the point of impact. Vehicle # 2 skids off at a 27 degree angle from the point of impact. Through investigation, you find that vehicle # 1 weighs 2500 lbs and vehicle # 2 weighs 3000 lbs. By measuring the skid marks and using another formula, you find that vehicle # 1 traveled at a speed of 35 mph post impact. Vehicle # 2 was traveling 25 mph post impact. Now, with the information that you are armed with, plug in the numbers, putting vehicle # 1 on an “X axis” and vehicle # 2 on a “Y axis” This will give you pre-collision speeds that you will need to reach your final answers.
